The Reporting System at KS3 and KS4
The significant changes that the Government has implemented means that at KS3 there are no longer any national standards against which students will be assessed and as such each school has developed ways of assessing and reporting on the progress that their students are making.
As a result of this at NPA we report on Attainment and Progress alongside our behaviour system where all students should be Ready, Respectful and Safe for all lessons.
KS3 Reports – Attainment
For each subject your child will receive a Current Indicator of Attainment (CIA) comment. This is based upon prior attainment and assessments, as well as recent work in the subject. From this the CIA indicates what the class teacher feels is the most likely final outcome at the end of Year 11, and indicates the long-term trajectory for achievement. In the table below, one of the four comments in the first column will be on the report for each subject.

KS3 Reports – Progress
Each subject will also have a progress indicator which will focus on the progress your child has made from their starting point in the year. This measure will be based on the work that has been produced, assessments in lessons and how the teacher feels the student is progressing; in other words is the student currently making the expected progress to meet the CIA by the end of year 11. Progress will be measured using the following scale.

Within the 2 school weeks following the report all students will also have a mentoring session with their tutor after each report where they will discuss the report and set a range of targets to improve performance. Immediately following the mentoring session tutors will contact home to communicate a summary of the discussion and share these targets.
Key Stage 4 Reports
At Key Stage 4 we report on predicted attainment (ECP = End of course prediction) in the form of a grade or letter depending on grade system used for GCSE or vocational subjects.
KS3 and KS4 – Attitude to Learning
Students are measure on their attitude to learning in lessons based on the three behaviour criteria used at Nene Park Academy. These criteria are:
- Is the student ready to learn?
- Is the student respectful in lessons?
All students are measured using the criteria: Always, Mostly, Sometimes and not yet.
More information and a copy of the above can be found on individual student reports.
