Shape of The School Day

A typical school day starts with 20 minutes of Tutor Time, has five one hour lessons with 20 minutes for morning break and 30 minutes for lunch. The timings for morning break and lunch vary for the different year groups and are shown below.

To help with transition to school lunch arrangements, Year 7 students have a tapered earlier start to lunch for the first three weeks of school.

School Opening Hours

Both the back and front school gates open between 8.15 and 8.30 h each morning. Students are expected to be in their form room and be ready for registration by 8.30 h, with the morning registration occurring at 8.35. Students arriving after the gates have closed should go to the ‘Late gate’ which is an entrance close to the Main Hall.

School ends at 14.45 h and both gates are open until 15.00 h. Students wishing to leave site after this time need to do so through Main Reception. The back gate will additionally open at 16.00 h for those students who have attended a Session 6.

A typical school day lasts for 6.5 hours which gives a core school week of 32.5 hours.
