New News Story

Every winter brings the possibility of snow and ice. Extreme bad weather can cause widespread and prolonged disruption. Schools are often affected and it can be difficult to maintain an education service.

As a fundamental principle we will make every effort  to keep Nene Park Academy open, even if limited numbers of pupils can attend. However we may have to close due to ‘unavoidable’ circumstances. Those circumstances being that it is no longer safe for staff or pupils to be on the Academy premises.

We recognise that it is important our Academy remains open so parents are able to work and that our pupils can continue to learn. Nene Park Academy has made every effort to prepare for severe snow/ice this winter by gritting pathways, clearing access points etc. and will continue to do so.

However, if severe snow/ice results in hazardous conditions, we may have to take the decision to close the Academy. This decision will usually take place in the morning to establish the latest conditions and ensure that a fully informed decision is made. Once this decision has been made we will notify parents as soon as possible via email, Twitter, Facebook  and on our website 'latest information' page.
